How do you show records in a query using value comparison?

Ultimately, B gets associated with A, and I know how to use the $$RECORDID$$ feature. But I’d like to show records of type B before this association happens, based on the equality of values of fields between A and B. Is there any way to accomplish this?

You can probably do this by having a query section of all B records on your form for A records, then use filters. The $$PARENT::SectionName::FieldName$$ filters for the fields that you want to match up. You can find out more about those variables in the Reporting User Guide [PDF].
