In TRIRIGA Data Integrator, during the loading of data, we’re seeing double quotation marks and extended hyphens being converted to upside-down question marks. This is occurring on a 10.5/3.5 TRIRIGA environment. I’ve verified that the database character set is WE9MSWIN1252. Character Length Semantic = BYTE.
Yes, smart quotes and the long hyphens have been tripping up web applications (not just TRIRIGA, but most others around the web) since they were introduced years ago. Here’s how to disable smart quotes in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel): Click the File tab in the upper left corner of the screen. Select Options. Select Proofing in the left pane. Click AutoCorrect Options. Select the AutoFormat tab. Uncheck “Straight quotes with smart quotes.” Click OK. Do the same thing for the hyphen.
