How do you control the “new window” behavior in Chrome?


We’re looking to getting our client to move to Google Chrome. However, we have observed the following behavior which is putting them off due to data corruption concerns.

Internet Explorer:

  • 1. Open a particular record from a report. The record opens in a second window.
  • 2. Return to the report and open the same record. The second window simply refreshes. You don’t get a third window.

Google Chrome:

  • 1. Open a particular record from a report. The record opens in a second window.
  • 2. Return to the report and open the same record. The record opens again in a third window.

However, this does not happen with the people records through Portfolio > People. Is this something that can be controlled in the report or browser? How does the browser determine whether to open a new window or refresh an existing one?
