When SESSION_WARNING_ENABLED set to “Y” (Yes) in the TRIRIGAWEB.properties file, a message like the following appears prior to the actual timeout:
Your session expires at
Click OK before your session expires to continue. If your session has expired, all unsaved work has been lost. Click OK to sign in. Click Exit to sign out.
This message does not make sense and is confusing to users. Two examples of this:
- The message tells the user to click “OK” to sign in. But the user is sent back to the home page. If the user session has expired, the user is still sent back to the home page. But when trying to transact, the user is then redirected to login.
- The message tells the user to click “Exit” to sign out. But there is no “Exit” choice. When the user clicks “Cancel”, it does not actually sign the user out of the system.
We needed to update the WEB_MESSAGE SESSION_EXP_WARN_2 to be clearer. Moving forward, we revised the session expiration warning message to make it clearer to the user what their next action is, or what will happen if they don’t act before the timeout.
