Foosball

About TRIRIGA Foosball

In January 2009, George Ahn, our TRIRIGA CEO at the time, introduced our very first professional foosball table to our Las Vegas office! In February 2009, TRIRIGA management launched our very first organized foosball tournament as a company-wide team-building interactive experience. The rest is history! Even today in 2016, with or without an organized tournament, many on the TRIRIGA software team continue to play foosball to take a quick break from work and have some competitive fun. If you haven’t played a TRIRIGA foosball game, you haven’t truly met TRIRIGA.

    • Amusing footnote: Heavy favorite was Jay & Dean due to Jay’s experience with childhood and college foosball. Among the remaining players, Ray also had college foosball experience.

2011-2014

  • Amusing footnote: According to Kenny, there were 2 other organized tournaments between 2011 and 2014. Oddly, Jay wasn’t aware of their existence until 2015. Sadly, the tournament details and photos are lacking. So for now, a footnote will have to be enough.

2015

  • 21-24 Jul 2015: Post-“Falcon 2015” Foosball Tournament. The 8th organized tournament. Directed by Caleb, who included Development only. Random teams of 2 players. A team can switch its configuration only once, if the opposing team is leading by 4 points or more. To be played over one week. The 5th successful completion.
    • Champions: Martin & Nithyan
    • Finalists: Caleb & Kenny
    • Semifinalists #1: Angkap & Cheng
    • Semifinalists #2: Adarsh & Casey
    • Prize: Bragging rights
    • Amusing footnote: For fun and curiosity, Jay ended his 2-year retirement and challenged Caleb & Kenny in a practice 1-on-2 match, best-of-3 games. Jay barely won an evenly-matched, hard-fought, and super-fun 8-6, 7-8, 8-7. But amid playful controversy, Jay wasn’t allowed to sign-up as a 1-man team.

2016

  • 21-22 Jan 2016: Post-“Skywalker 2015” Foosball Tournament. Nearly 7 years after receiving our first foosball table, the 9th organized tournament. Directed by Caleb, who included Development only. Random teams of 2 players. A team can switch its configuration only once, if the opposing team is leading by 4 points or more. To be played over 2 days. The 6th successful completion.
    • Champions: Angkap & Jonny
    • Finalists: Martin & Yong
    • Semifinalists #1: Caleb & Cheng
    • Semifinalists #2: Kenny & Praveen
    • Prize: Plastic gold trophy and bragging rights
    • Amusing footnote: Because several players dropped out, the new team of Kenny & Praveen was formed, and Adarsh no longer had a partner. Amid playful controversy, because Jay & Akshat were already a team, Adarsh & Jay weren’t allowed to become another new team.

Random teams of 2 players, except for Jay as a 1-man team. No round-robin portion. All matches are best-of-3 games. After losing the 1st game, Team X can switch the configuration of Team Y for the 2nd game. But if Team X reaches 4 points in the 2nd game, Team Y can switch back. To be played over several days. The 7th successful completion.
    • Champions: Casey & Caleb
    • Finalists: Angkap & Jonny
    • Semifinalists #1: Cheng & Yong
    • Semifinalists #2: Martin & Akshat
    • Prize: Plastic gold trophy and bragging rights
    • Amusing footnote: Although the return of Angkap & Jonny was by chance, it was actually a cool result. So, starting with this tournament, the current champions have the option to return to the next tournament and defend their title!
